The WOW! Digital Cable Parental Control feature allows you to block programs by channel, program rating, or time of day. When you turn the Parental Control feature on, you cannot view blocked programs without entering your Personal Identification Number (PIN). Parental Controls apply to content on regular channels and WOW! OnDemand. It will not block the ordering of Pay-Per-View programs however it will block viewing on that channel.
How To Set Up Parental Controls For the First Time:
- Press the Settings button twice.
- At the General Settings menu, press the "Up" or "Down" or page up and down to highlight Block: PIN and press Select.
- Press the up or down buttons on the remote to highlight Enable and press Select.
- Enter your new 4 digit pin.
- Re-enter the 4 digit pin to confirm.
- Use up and down arrows on the remote to choose to Block: Channels, Block Rating, or Block Time New.
- Highlight your selection, press Select.
- Enter your Parental Control PIN (default PIN is either 0000, 1234, or 3215).
- Follow the on-screen instructions.
- Repeat steps 6-9 to configure additional blocks.
- Press the Exit key to return to watching TV.
How to Turn On Parental Controls After Initial Setup:
- Press the Settings button twice.
- At the General Settings menu, press the "Up" or "Down" buttons on the remote control to select the method you would like to use to block programming (channels, ratings, or time).
- Highlight the Turn On Parental Control option and press the Select button on the remote control.
- Highlight your selection, press Select.
- Enter your Parental Control PIN (default PIN is either 0000, 1234, or 3215).
- Follow the on-screen instructions.
- Press the Exit key to return to watching TV.
- Power off the digital receiver and power it back on to turn on the Parental Control feature.
How to Block and Unblock Content Directly from the Channel:
- On the remote, press the Settings button once.
- Use the up and down arrows to highlight Block This Channel or Unblock This Channel.
- Press Select.
- Enter the Parental Control PIN.
How to Turn Off Parental Controls:
- While watching any channel, press the Settings button. This will bring up the Quick Settings menu.
- Press the "Up" or "Down" buttons to highlight Turn OFF Parental Control. (If this shows Turn On Parental Control, then the parental controls are already off).
- Press the Select button to change the setting to "On" or "Off."
- Enter your Parental Control PIN (default PIN is 3215).
How to Watch Blocked Content
- Tune to the blocked program. The Parental Control: On alert menu will appear.
- Press Select on the remote to turn Off the Parental Control.
- Enter the Parental Control PIN.
How To View Locked Channels and Locked Ratings Lists:
- Press the Settings button twice and use the up and down arrows to locate the Block: Channels and Block: Ratings options.
The Parental Control menu shows which channels and ratings are currently blocked. The menu and quick settings will also show a lock or unlock symbol to indicate if the channel is blocked or if the channel is blocked, but Parental Control is disabled.
How to Enable, Disable, or Change Your Parental Control PIN:
- On the remote, press the Settings button twice.
- At the General Settings menu, use the up and down arrows to highlight Block: Pin, then press Select.
- Use the up and down arrows to highlight Change, then press Select.
- Enter the current PIN.
- Enter the new PIN.
- Re-enter new PIN for confirmation.
- Press Exit to return to watching TV.
